2025 New Zealand Flying 15 National Championship at the Bay of Islands

Bay of Islands Sailing Week

The Bay of Islands Sailing Week is New Zealand's largest keelboat regatta, held during the last week of January. This three-day event attracts both local and international entries, featuring a variety of racing formats, including island passage races and windward-leeward courses.

In the week leading up to the event, the Bay of Islands experienced gales and heavy rain, limiting training to a brief sail on Tuesday afternoon. By Wednesday, the winds had eased, and the fleet was able to sail the one-hour out to the course in a light southerly breeze.

2025 Flying Fifteen Australian National Championship at Davey’s Bay YC, Victoria

2 - 6 January, 2025

A total of 31 Flying Fifteens turned out for the 2025 Australian National Championship held on the waters of Davey’s Bay Yacht Club.

The varied conditions did not deter Nick Jerwood and Brad Sheridan (SoPYC) from completing a clean sweep of the event. They had the measure of all other competitors regardless of the conditions.  Click to read full report.

South African Flying 15 Association National Championship 2024

Sailed at Henley Midmar YC on Midmar Dam, South Africa

With the water quality in Durban Harbour remaining foul and making launching of Flying Fifteen’s a significant health hazard, it was decided to relocate much of the fleet one hour inland to Midmar Dam, thus exchanging the country’s best offshore sailing waters for the best fresh-water sailing on offer.
